Oh Beautiful for Spacious Skies - Color Photograph...

This is the 1st of FOUR contests in progress with an 'America, the Beautiful' theme. It's ALL about the sky, everyone, as in 'the sky's the limit', so post your most beautiful spacious skies! Color photography. NO Ai, digital, overly-processed or saturated, or slanted horizons. NO voter solicitation! Your entries MUST feature SKIES, everyone, not land, buildings, piers, bridges, boats, people, animals, trees, etc.

The other three other contests are: 'For Amber Waves of Grain', 'For Purple Mountains Majesty' and 'From Sea to Shining Sea'. 'America the Beautiful' lyrics were written by Katharine Lee Bates and its music composed by church organist & choirmaster Samuel A. Ward at Grace Episcopal Church in Newark, NJ. The two never met. Bates wrote the words as a poem, originally entitled 'Pikes Peak', first published in the  4th of July 1895 edition of the church periodical. At that time, the poem was entitled 'America'. The combination of Ward's melody & Bates's poem was first titled 'America the Beautiful' in 1910, and has become one of the most popular American patriotic songs.
